The Togo AgroCredit Program moves rural farmers from Surviving to Thriving!

Most farmers in Togo are subsistence farmers. This means they consume what they grow, or sell their crops to buy the minimum essentials required to survive.  There is no profit, and there is no end to poverty. But, ILAD’s Togo Development Project has changed that for many rural farmers in southern Togo.

With education and a successful pineapple juice bottling business to buy their produce, rural farmers are growing cash crops sold at fair market value and finally escaping poverty.

One major roadblock is the lack of funding for start-up. Most farmers rent the land they cultivate and growing new crops requires materials such as weed paper, seedlings, and organic fertilizer.

The Togo Agro Credit Program offers micro-loans from $150 - $2000 to farmers who choose to implement best practices in organic pineapple farming. These loans give farmers the money needed to rent or buy land, buy necessary materials, and begin farming for their future.

This program has been in existence since 2013 and has a 100% payback rate. It is the key to unlocking hope for future generations of Togolese farmers.
