West Africa Savanna Literacy
Region: West Africa
Transformational development through Mother tongue literacy
Our team envisions the favorable transformation of an entire language community on the West African savanna – transformation in health, economics, and education. With the good will and collaboration of this community, we endeavor to build a permanent infrastructure of mother-tongue literacy upon which enduring societal development may be mounted.
This infrastructure will be in place when the following exists:
- One hundred new authors, published in the region’s language
- One hundred volunteer literacy teachers
- A public library and a literature sales outlet in all fifty of the region’s key municipalities
- An established regional publishing institution
- One hundred literary clubs
- A K-12 alternative education system in the region’s local language
- The African Solutions Institute: genuine African scholarship for African development
