Limited Access to Clean Water

Sarah must walk over 2 miles every day just to get water from the river for her family to use for cooking and bathing. She has no time to attend school, and the parasites in the water often make her sick.

ILAD’s clean water initiatives provide communities with deep water wells eliminating illness and increasing time available for school, work, and play. As stated by the organization Lifewater, “Water and poverty are inextricably linked. Lack of safe water and poverty are mutually reinforcing; access to consistent sources of clean water is crucial to poverty reduction. Currently, 748 million people live without access to safe water.”
