Changing lives in Asia through language development
The Asia project aims to bring sustainable, positive change to local communities. We will attempt to achieve this goal by providing access to information though the use of Human Language Technology. The project will begin with linguistic survey work, determining the number and size of under-resourced languages in the area, as well as which languages are related to each other. Next, the project will focus on collecting data that can be used to produce both written and oral information in those languages. These groups have had very little access to information in their language before and our hope is that through the innovative use of Human Language Technology, we can provide education, opportunities, and information to these overlooked groups.
