In some parts of rural West Africa, 68-82%* of children under 5 suffer from Severe Child Food Poverty (per UNICEF*: they only ate from 0-2 out of 8 recommended food groups the previous day).
In order to fight malnutrition, development workers are starting a Demonstration Farm with a double focus:
- Cashews as a Cash Crop
- Fruit Trees, Leafy Greens, and Beans for Local Nutrition
The goal is to provide year-round access to an increased variety of nutrients.
